Follow up: "Using New Technologies ..." article in the Creative Learning Exchange
Posted by John F. Heinbokel on 11/20/2009
Mornin' All.
Jeff and I had the pleasure recently to summarize some of our recent thoughts and experiences for an article in the Fall 2009 Creative Learning Exchange (http://www.clexchange.org/ftp/newsletter/CLEx18.2.pdf). As useful as it was to collect our thoughts and as gratifying as it is to see our names in print, the real purpose of the exercise was to generate some exchange on those themes. As we said in the article, "Our goal here is to initiate a conversation and invite others to join us in that exploration of how to 1) better use these available options and 2) solicit descriptions of other technologies of which we are not yet aware."
Our thesis was that 'quicker, better, cheaper' (to steal an old tag line from NASA) supports to building and strengthening our community should pay dividends. Is that valid? Useful? Have you had unproductive experiences that should inform how we use these technologies? Have you had productive experiences with other examples of the three technologies we discussed? Have you had productive experiences with and advocate that we explore or utilize other technologies (e.g. social networking tools, of which Jeff and I are largely ignorant - old dogs and new tricks come to mind!).
As we try to frequently ask our students: Comments? Questions? Complaints?
Thanks.
John (and Jeff)
