No, Eric, you woke up on the right side. In this speech Crichton comes off as a dilettante entertainer posing as a systems thinker. He ultimately performs a hatchet job on the systems paradigm he claims to support. He should save his pop-science entertainment for his novels. He had me alternately laughing at his jokes and then laughing at his ridiculously facile, even puerile, put-downs of efforts like the MIT limits to growth group that has done so much to put serious system dynamics on the map.

The Washington Center for Complexity and Public Policy that asked him to speak should be ashamed.
