Message:

I used a CLD when discussing bullying and aggression prevention from a self-awareness standpoint:

As stress increases, one’s emotional well-being is negatively affected, which then increases aggression. Aggression further degrades emotional well-being, which increases stress. Aggression towards others increases interpersonal conflict, which increases stress levels. Use of calming strategies can decrease stress levels.

I constructed the model with the students, illustrating the modeling process, by displaying the elements, then asking students how they interacted. With a little prompting we got the first two loops. I then asked how stress could be reduced (since they seemed to focus on that as a point of initial cause), thereby including the calming strategies. Then I introduced the idea of consequences of aggression that involved other people, rather than just the internal consequences, which led us to construct the third loop.
