Response to Ed's comment that we take our cues from where the students are.
Suppose you had a mathematically facile sixth grader - that is, equations spoke to him more than words - and you wanted to describe the relationship of a stock to a flow. Setting the math acumen aside, what words might be the starting point?
While each student differs, what cache of words might a teacher reach for as a place to start?
