I don't have experience with StarLogo, but have used the related NetLogo, which is also free, but much more like a programing language. The new StarLogo puzzle block approach to programming has had a lot of success in Scratch, which is also related, but is not focused on modeling. The plus of NetLogo is that it has a lot of examples, allows some SD modeling, and can create stand alone Java models that can run online. The minus is that learning to code models takes a lot more work or previous experience. Folks may also be interested in Scratch since it has a huge following, tons of examples, and can also run online through their hosted site.
