Modeling information flows is not only possible but very important in SD modeling because of awareness of the effect of information delays on perceived behavior and other behavior, and the unexpected consequences that often result. Not being a professional modeler, I cannot comment on your technical question, but I have never heard of CPU capacity problems in most modeling.
