I believe that the current emphasis on science and math leads to incremental innovation in technology, not necessarily to creative or new approaches to how we live our lives. We will always need the humanities and high levels of literacy if we are to hope for innovative solutions to our current challenges. Technological innovation based on improved teaching and learning in math and science is only part of what we need for understanding how to significantly improve our society and the world.
