This may be after teaching innovation in schools but once the basics of creativity and innovation taught TRIZ method may be of value. I came across it in the ninties when large corporates were stuck for solutions who had already used system dynamics tools ( ithink etc ) and used all the brain power at there disposal... See wikipedia TRIZ... TRIZ is variously described as a methodology, tool set, knowledge base, and model-based technology for generating new ideas and solutions for problem solving. It is intended for application in problem formulation, system analysis, failure analysis, and patterns of system evolution. I believe that over 300,000 patents were reviewed to see if they were inventive ( new ) or innovative ( meld of inventions ) and a system developed to enhance finding matches across the whole gamut of categories of problems and solutions.
I wish I had this tool in senior school and later business life. If you Did not have the basics of innovation I assume it just provides answers but with the power of all these patents already catagorised and cross referenced it certainly got thee light bulbs going in people who already were " in the woods" and gave the the opportunity to view many other " forests " from on high rapidly.
And how do we drive this creativity and innovation into government?
