Subject: Carrying Capacity 2

"The carrying capacity would be the flow that replenishes the Resource stock, but alas, there is none."

Does that mean what I think it means? Adding a flow that replenishes the Resource would certainly INCREASE the carrying capacity; but it is not really the carrying capacity, or is it?

Seems to me that the carrying capacity is some number, some outer limit, that depends on the ratio of people to resource. Push past that number, trouble ensues.

I do think that I could re-engineer the first model to sustain, perhaps even grow, the population. But that's not really my question. I am imagining the model I pitched as a metaphor, a starting point for my thinking about organizational change. Maybe I'm nuts to suggest this is a way.

What I'm really hoping for is to keep a staff's capacity at the upper reach of the logistic curve - high performing, engaged, collaborative, professional. Bill Braun is on the right track: what are the key stocks in such a model?
