Colleagues,
I hesitate because I am getting on a plane tonight and will be pretty much tied up right through June, but.... We have been using a policy simulation 'game' EPICS (Education Policy Impacts Simulation) in our work with educators from around the world for over ten years. It may be useful for you to see. The 'game' was developed by a team of faculty and students at the Harvard Graduate School of Education around 1990. It was inspired by Meadows' work. Players take the roles of various ministry of education unit directors, the minister, etc. The "game" objective is to improve access and participation in education in an unnamed developing country. The larger objectives are to help players "see" and understand the complexities, systemic linkages, and alignments required to "win" such games in real life. It is always a favorite activity in the professional development seminars and overseas work that we do.
I would be willing to share more about this with you, but I will not be back in the country and available to do so until early in June. If this is of interest and you are facing an imminent deadline, I could try to put you in touch with someone else who may be able to help.
