Dear Tim:

Your question:

Scott, are you aware if Barry ever made this model operational?

I do not think Barry has passed the diagram to test these ideas with data, even if I consider very valuable the goings on in the diagram represented that he shares Scott.

I've recently finished another book in-depth study in memory of Barry, is titled "Tracing Connections - Voice of the Systems Thinkers", although for years I had studied the manual, Chapter 1, Stella, in the introduction of this new book which was originally written by Barry, documents eight critical thinking skills that are necessary to evolve our thinking.

It was therefore the impact to study the new model is shown on page 18, Fig 1.8 Map of the learning process, I went back to study again in Chapter 1 of Stella and even got me meditating and reflecting on the merits of these concepts and ideas.

Although you are right that the teacher does not appear on the map, I do believe you have the teacher have a major influence on student engagement in the wireless connection or the connection one to one that is conducted without using cables between teacher and student when he shares the vision of your institution or the purpose of a given subject or course

We must not forget that our limbic brains are connected wirelessly to receive the message of the feelings that are transmitted by human beings passing in front of us, really have no control to handle this communication without cables and without realizing it, we received a hormonal bath from our brain that goes to the adrenal glands, the key point here is that emotional abuse and neglect both in our training as children, often have lost the ability to read our radar of self-consciousness, self-control and consciousness social and relationship management.

Whether the cycle diagram barry cause and effect has been tested with data or not, this is undoubtedly very useful to explain the ideas that sought to teach us.

I believe that today's teacher must be a human being with a high readiness in managing their emotional and social intelligence, not being the center of the class, now if it will be necessary to use their ability to listen these vibes wireless, your emotional radar must be finely tuned to tune in whenever necessary with his student, one by one, no doubt.

Imagine anything more challenging, when we live in a society that has neglected the strengthening of these natural human abilities and to think the technology, iPods, xBox, instead of allowing our limbic brain is trained based on new habits , it even seems that the use of technology is isolating and making us insensitive to long-term serious consequences.
