Student Learning
Posted by Tim Joy on 2/2/2014
Great thanks to each of you for your thoughtful comments on my School Change Model. As I write that title, I realize how presumptuous is the attempt. I know the model will be wrong (as we know all models to be), but I think a model of some sort will be helpful. That is what I am seeking . . . a model to help educators and leaders in education facilitate change in order to boost student learning and achievement.
I want you all to know how truly grateful I am for the generosity of your comments. Also, note that my concern is about model structure, and much less so about curriculum or pedagogy specifics. It will help us all if we can ascertain just the right boundary of this model, somewhere between Forrester's World Model and the alcohol metabolism of one person.
In the last two weeks, I've been thinking about Student Learning/Understanding/Achievement/Knowledge. Over on my blog (http://itsallonething.org/), I have again posted an update, a zoom into the Student area of the model that was least developed. Again, you can tell me what you are thinking by posting on this list-serve, commenting on the blog itself, or emailing me directly (tjoy56@comcast.net).
Let's see where this takes us,
Tim Joy Portland, Oregon itsallonething.org
