systems thinking in school leadership
Posted by Goldman, Jay on 10/7/2004
Those interested in how systems thinking is being applied to the leadership of elementary and secondary education will want to look at the November ’04 issue of The School Administrator magazine. It will be mailed on or about Oct. 25 and posted to the AASA website during the final week of October (www.aasa.org/publications/SA).
Among other things, this issue carries articles about applying the ideas of Peter Senge and a Q&A with Ron Heifetz of Harvard’s Kennedy School. A companion article by James “Torch” Lytle, superintendent of schools in Trenton, N.J., details how Heifetz has influenced his thinking as a school leader.
The School Administrator is the monthly magazine of the American Association of School Administrators. It is received by 22,000 superintendents and others administrators working at the central level.
