Subject: Strategy for ST/DM

Posted by Richard Turnock on 1/12/2005

Message:

Has anyone developed a PR strategy for Systems Thinking or Dynamic Modeling to communicate to a broader audience the benefits for K12 education? What about a PR strategy to communicate the Essex Report to a broad audience?

The 109th congress is going to consider NCLB reform. There will probably be a push to account for multiple ways of measuring student achievement besides just standardized tests. Each state will probably be allowed to use alternative proficiency methods to account for multiple ways of measuring student achievement.

Assuming a revised NCLB gives states the flexibility to use alternative assessment methods, which states might we convince to require measurements of student achievement that support systems thinking and dynamic modeling? What assessment methods measure student achievement using systems thinking and dynamic modeling? (Perry Scheme?)

To support systems thinking and dynamic modeling, I think I need key messages from a PR strategy to communicate with my congressional representatives and senators, state politicians and state school policymakers. (Assuming we have a body of knowledge and experience to support the key messages and strategy.)

Thanks

Richard
