Hi Lees, Here are a few possibilities:
€ Zhang, B., Fretz, E. B., & Krajcik, J. (2003). Exploring middle school science students' epistemological understanding of models and modeling and its changes over time. Michigan: School of Education, University of Michigan.
€ Research by Chris Dede at Harvard's Ed School (see http://www.gse.harvard.edu/~dedech/). His "modeling across the curriculum project" (NSF-funded research on modeling and visualization) may be it.
Or, a few other possibilities (longer shots):
Stratford, S., Krajcik, J. S., & Soloway, E. (1997). Secondary students’ dynamic modeling processes: Analyzing reasoning about, synthesizing, and testing models of stream ecosystems. Paper presented at the Annual Meeting of the American Educational Research Association, Chicago.
Squire, K. (2001). Reframing the Cultural Space of Computer and Video Games. Cambridge, MA: MIT Comparative Media Studies: Games-to-Teach.
My best,
Linda
