I'm not sure anything has changed in terms of the air conditioner's goal just becasue the door to the outside was opened. The behavior of the air conditioner remains the same, does it not? Whether or not the room cools to the desired temperature has to do with the capacity of the cooler, but not its behavior. It is still striving to close a gap over some period of time, but simply lacks the BTUs to get there.
