Hi Alice,
From my experience with typical K-12 students, as a volunteer math and science tutor, I would not utilize the definitions in your attached reference until the 11th or 12th grades. This is especially true if the systems thinking approach has not been implemented in the middle schools etc. As I mentioned before some students are naturally prone to systems thinking because of their personality dynamic.
