Today, I finished reading the article by Dr. Hestenes, highlighting and underlining relevant parts. Next step seems to be to write a summary and comments, then questions/suggestions for System Dynamics group to consider.
I exchanged one email with Dr. Hestenes. Here are two questions/answers:
Richard’s question:
On your http://modeling.asu.edu/ web site. I noticed you proposed a National Center for Physics Education. However, I don't see that on the Internet as an entity now. What is the status?

Dr. Hestenes reply:
Politically, It is not going anywhere.
I am currently seeking to establish a Modeling Institute at ASU; The main problem is money, so it is not likely to happen unless a private donor suddenly appears.

Richard’s question:
Also, I looked at the American Modeling Teachers Association (AMTA) web site. I don't have login access but from what I saw it was active in summer 2008.

There is great enthusiasm among the members.
