One post referenced a tenet of SD as effects not being obviously connected with causes. Maybe. But this doesn't mean ALL effects are not obvious. Many clearly are. Ethanol. The housing crisis.
Others not so obvious. We've got a nearby park with 8x the number of deer as the land will sustain, the story goes. What to do? Allow hunters to manage the land? Allow nature to take its course? Does anyone ask how nature became out of whack? The solutions are not always so obvious, but merely recognizing actions have consequences is a good first step.

Sadly, our policy-makers aren't taking that step.
