Dear Linda,
lucky me that you are part of the list and answered so quickly to my request. I'd be very happy to have your dissertation and go through the literature review. Some of the good books (e.g. Kauffman's) I encountered in the erly 80es when I studied environmental education at MSU and first got involved in systems thinking are not available any more here in Europe. And since no attempt has been made to introduce systems concepts into our school system - except for Guenther Ossimitz from Austria with High School kids - we'll have to rely on experiences from American schools.
You mention Joanna Macy in your foreword to the Buttterfly book. I know her and her work pretty well. She has been a constant source of inspiration towards the system's view of the world to me. In her latest book "Coming back to life" she has some interesting exercises to experience systems dynamics in groups.
I'll keep you informed about the progress of our work - and of course i hope to get some information abour classroom system's acitvities (without computers) from experienced teachers as well.
Best wishes Ursula
