Message:

Higher Education might expose teachers to systems thinking and even dynamic modeling however once they arrive at a K12 school/classroom then their behavior is determined by the structure of the system where they work. The “No Child Left Behind” law and the structure of education (hierarchical: federal, state, district, school, discipline) determines the behavior of educators in the classroom. What they learn in higher education or continuing education classes is forgotten unless it aligns with the goals of the school where they work. That’s why when teaching teachers ST & DM my follow-up meetings found them not implementing what they had learned.
