Capacity to Love and Carry
Posted by Tim Joy on 12/1/2010
Changing a school's culture is no easy thing, I am finding out. Michael Fullen's work on change in schools has been a big help for me. Some time ago, I mentioned an interest in carrying capacity within a school; specifically, how might one gauge the capacity of a teaching staff to carry a heavy load - change methods, work with at-risk students, work in teams, et al. One of Fullen's so-called Secrets is to "love your teachers."
So I built a small model, and I wish you'd take a look.

I am not a professional modeler, nor do I play one on TV or in a classroom. The cultural system of a school, now that I am a principal, captures my imagination every day. Sometimes I can't sleep. This waking and thinking about a school might eventually help me out.
